Pond Works team with international pond influencers on a grand waterfall ecosystem pond with constructed wetland

From different parts of the world, brought together by a shared passion for ponds, waterfalls, and aquatic life.

Having industry leaders recognise your work is one thing but having three of them from across the world standing in front of one of your projects at the same time is something else entirely.

Recently, Pond Works had the absolute privilege of hosting three well-known YouTubers and influencers in the water feature and aquascaping space:

  • Greg Wittstock – internationally recognised as The Pond Guy
  • Mark Marshall – known for transforming outdoor living spaces
  • Kaity Cichlids – a passionate voice in the fish keeping community

Bringing together expertise in ponds, landscaping and fish keeping, this visit perfectly represented what Pond Works is all about.

From Leaking Dam to Living Ecosystem

This project began as a leaking, ageing dam that struggles to hold water and lacked ecological balance.

What it has become is a completely reimagined space being a large-scale ecosystem pond designed to function naturally and sustainably.

Key Features of the Transformation:

  • 35m x 12m ecosystem pond
  • 11m constructed wetland filtration system
  • Interactive stepping stones through the wetland
  • One of the most impressive grand waterfall features in a residential-style ecosystem
  • Designed for natural filtration, balance and aquatic health

The Grand Waterfall: A True Centrepiece

Once of the most striking features of this project is the grand waterfall.

It creates an immediate visual statement while filling the entire space with the sound and movement of flowing water.  Beyond aesthetics, it plays a critical role in:

  • Oxygenating the system
  • Supporting fish health
  • Driving circulation throughout the pond

It’s the kind of feature that defines the entire landscape.

The Wetland That Impressed Global Experts

While the waterfall delivers impact, the constructed wetland system delivers balance.

Spanning 11 metres, this wetland naturally filtered the entire ecosystem while blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.  Designed with interactive stepping stones, it allows visitors to walk through and experience the filtration process up close.

During the visit, Greg Wittstock shared:

“This is probably one of the nicest wetlands I’ve ever seen.”

Coming from one of the most recognised figures in the global pond industry, that feedback meant a great deal to our team.

A great moment in a Pond Works constructed wetland system with Greg Wittstock and the team celebrating a standout ecosystem pond transformation.

Three Experts, One Shared Vision

What made this visit particularly meaningful is how each guest represents a core element of what Pond Works delivers:

  • Greg Wittstock – ecosystem pond design and global industry leadership
  • Mark Marshall – outdoor transformation and landscape storytelling
  • Kaity Cichlids – fish keeping and aquatic life experience

Together, they reflect the three pillars of every Pond Works project: design, function and living aquatic systems.

Awesome to show Mark Marshall around and share what we’re building here in Australia

Filming, Vlogging and Capturing the Moment

With multiple content creators on-site, the project naturally became a filming hub.

Throughout the visit, there was constant activity capturing:

  • The scale of the transformation
  • The impact of the grand waterfall
  • The detail and function of the wetland system
  • The clarity and health of the ecosystem

Seeing the project through their perspectives reinforced just how unique this transformation is.

Why Projects Like This Matter

This project highlights the growing shift in outdoor water feature design.

It’s no longer just about appearance.  It’s about building living systems that function naturally, including:

  • Long-term water clarity
  • Fish and wildlife support
  • Natural filtration without the use of chemicals
  • Integration into the surrounding landscape

A properly designed ecosystem pond doesn’t just sit in a space.  It brings it to life.

A Project That Represents What We Do

Hosting Greg Wittstock, Mark Marshall and Kaity Cichlids on this project was a moment we won’t forget.

From a leaking dam to a thriving ecosystem pond with a grand waterfall and one of the most impressive constructed wetlands we’ve ever built, this project is a perfect example of what happens when design, engineering and passion come together.
